The number of tourists entering Panama grew by 29.4% during the last year, that is, 572,830 more visitors than in 2022, reveals data from the statistics department of the Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP) and the National Institute of Statistics and Census. of the Comptroller General of the Republic (INEC).

According to the report from January to December 2023, Panama registered a total of 2,518,476 visitors. The entry of these visitors is measured from different points, the Tocumen International Airport, the main port of entry to the country, which reported an increase of 17.9% compared to 2022. The Paso Canoas border, which registered an increase of 12.3%, the ports of cruise ships that increased by 100.4% and other ports registered an increase of 72.2%.

The Tocumen International Airport received 1,792,322 visitors in the period from January to December 2023, while in 2022 it received 1,520,177 visitors, which means an increase of 17.9%, and an absolute variation of 272,145 more visitors compared to the 2022 period.

The Paso Canoas border received 96,025 visitors in the period from January to December 2023, while in 2022 it received 85,502 visitors, the period reflected an increase of 12.3%, and an absolute variation of 10,523 more visitors, compared to the 2022 period. .

The main cruise ports received 318,667 passengers in the period from January to December 2023, while in 2022 they received 159,049 cruise passengers, the period reflected an increase of 100.4% and an absolute variation of 159,618 more visitors, compared to the period of 2022.

Visitors entered by other ports have reflected an entry of 311,462 visitors in the period from January to December 2023, while 2022 received 180,918 visitors, which reflected an increase of 72.2%, and an absolute variation of 130,544 more visitors in comparison. with the period of 2022.

The foreign exchange income recorded in the period from January to December 2023 was US$5,451.9 million (does not include international transportation) unlike 2022 with US$4,720.6 million, that is, about US$731.3 million more than the previous year, which It represents a percentage increase of 15.5%, if compared to 2022.

The average length of stay of a visitor (tourists and cruise passengers) in Panama is approximately 8 days and they are spending an average of US$2,165 per stay and an average of US$271 daily.
